Leelanau County beaches offer something for everyone.
Below is a list of just some of our favorites:
Van's Beach

Van’s beach is located just south of the Leland River. A one minute drive from The Lodge.
Situated on Lake Michigan, but within a stone’s throw of Fishtown, Van’s Beach is a favorite of locals and visitors! Perfect for a family beach day, rock hunting, or watching the sunset.
Nedow's Bay Beach
320 Terrace Court, Leland, MI 49654
A five-minute walk, just down the hill from the Leland Lodge, this lakeside beach and park boasts a great swimming area and dock.
Borrow a beach chair and dig your toes into the cool sand and feel the fun family friendly vibe on North Lake Leelanau.
North Beach
North St, Leland, MI 49654
North Beach is located just north of the Leland Harbor & Fishtown at the end of North street. A one-minute drive from The Lodge.
This hidden (but public) gem is loved by all who venture down Lake & North Street. Tucked on the back side of the Leland Harbor break wall, North Beach offers stunning views, great beach walks and rock hunting opportunities.
Good Harbor Beach
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Located a short drive south of Leland, you’ll find Good Harbor Beach. Part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, this beach has a paved parking lot, composting toilets, trash and recycling receptacles and a foot washing station. Dogs are allowed (follow the signs) and beach fires are permitted as long as safety measures are taken. A park pass is required to visit Good Harbor Beach and can be purchased at the front desk of the Leland Lodge.
Empire Beach

About 25 minutes south of The Lodge, near the village of Empire, this beach is a fan favorite! With a pavilion, outdoor grills, playground, boat launch, fire pits and a lighthouse, Empire Beach is the perfect spot to relax and let the kids play all day. Empire Beach is also located on part of the National Lakeshore and has been claimed as one of the top 21 beaches in the world by National Geographic.
Northport Beach
Downtown, Northport, MI 49670
Northport Beach is another one for the books! It is located right in the heart of Northport, adjacent to the Marina, and welcoming to all ages! It is equipped with public restrooms, a boat launch, a designated swim area, and a kid-approved playground right along the lakeshore.
